We spend a lot of our time in Bloemfontein with our families and many of our friends. On our recent visit we discovered the most wonderful place, Emoya Estate which is on the western border of Bloemfontein. Emoya Wildlife Estate is home to around 33 species of game, such as giraffe, warthog, lion, leopard and cheetah and the 1904 old farmhouse has been transformed into a restaurant where you can enjoy the most delicious gourmet meals and drinks. The thing that fascinated us the most was the accommodation. The Basotho Village offers five-star facilities and then you can also experience a unique stay at their Makuku Village (Shanty Town / Shack Village) where you have to use the famous “long-drop” outside toilet and make your own fire for hot water in the traditional “donkey”. This is a MUST experience for any person traveling between Johannesburg and Cape Town and definitely worth the stop. So, once we saw this place, we knew that we wanted to do a shoot here. There is just nothing that can describe the African sky, so we were so grateful to capture some really amazing shots. Thank you to the guys at Emoya who allowed us to shoot there and also to Jana & Ian who were keen to be our models for the day together with their gorgeous kids. Here are some of our favourites.
