Warm Karoo Wedding Photos – DUNCAN and ZURIKA

Warm Karoo Wedding Photos

We don’t just love Duncan & Zurika’s Warm Karoo wedding photos, but we have so much love for them as a couple! When we first met, we hit it off with each other straight away and since then, Meyer and I were looking forward to being part of their special day!

So, what can you do to get beautiful Warm Karoo wedding photos? We always say, it’s like baking the perfect cake. You need all the right ingredients – and this goes from the venue (probably the most important) right through to all of the suppliers that you choose to work with on the day. And seeing as a venue is so important, let’s just talk about Warm Karoo as a venue for a minute.

The combination of city elegance, country tranquillity and everything authentic makes Warm Karoo the perfect setting for any event. I asked Duncan and Zurika why they chose this venue and this is what they had to say: So even before we got engaged we decided to start looking at venues.  We got information from about 8 places in and around Bloemfontein, and decided to go look at Zurika’s favourite and Duncan’s favourite on the first day.  Zurika’s favourite came first, but didn’t WOW much…. then we went to Duncan’s favourite, which was Warm Karoo.  And we both just went “I like this” as we drove down the driveway. We liked everything – the simplistic look of the grey roofs, white walls and green grass, as well as the bold, heavy wooden doors. Leaving there we decided the search is over. We like this! Let’s book it!

From a photography point of view, there are other important things that really also make for great Warm Karoo wedding photos, and while it might not be the first thing you consider when planning a wedding, your lighting and colour scheme is definitely something very important. Lighting is much more than just a stylistic element of your wedding: it is a force. Just as music controls the mood and energy of a dancing crowd, lighting governs the ambiance of the entire affair. Illumination and decor do indeed go hand in hand. This is true regardless of your colour palette, whether bold and vivacious or soft and subtle – lighting is essential to bringing decor and floral to life. And this is when it is great to bring in the help of an expert, like Tony and his team from ENVIE, who did an amazing job.

We always tell our couples that we’re all about telling their wedding story. And a story for us, is made up of great moments that happen throughout the day. So, the best advice that we can give to any couple is to ENJOY their day (it goes so quick)! And this is exactly what Zurika and Duncan did (and you can tell that they had the best time when you look at their images)!

When asked about their favourite part of the wedding, Zurika said it was the moment when the doors to the chapel opened, and her dad kept saying “look at the people” (great advice, dad!!!), but she was just focused on her husband to be.

For Duncan, walking into the reception hall for the first time as husband and wife was his favourite part – “it took my breath away”!

Finally, I think that when organizing a wedding, one has to stay true to yourself, your style and who you are as a couple. And, when looking back at this wedding, we will think back with great fondness of a wonderful couple, who had an amazing wedding. Zurika & Duncan, you are PERFECT for each other. You guys are great as individuals, and even better as a couple and we feel so honoured to have been part of this wonderful journey with you!

(I’ve just realised I had written so much that I completely forgot to mention the torrential thunderstorm that happened during the ceremony and continued throughout the time when we had to do the couple portrait shoot. So thankful for the shots we got inside the newly opened The Kitchen. If you’re into good wine, craft beer, gin and great food, then we suggest you make a point of visiting Warm Karoo to enjoy a real authentic experience).
